CAMPING GAMES Challenge your mind and have heaps of fun at camp playing these camping games. Game 1- I'm going on a camping trip This camping game tests your memory. It is best played with at least 4 people. To start, the first person has to say the line “I'm going on a camping trip, and I'm going to bring . . . (mention an object they can bring to camp) ”. So they might say: “I'm going on a camping trip and I'm going to bring a tent.” Then the 2nd person will repeat that phrase and add another item to the phrase. For example, “I'm going on a camping trip and I'm going to bring a tent and a torch. Each person included in the game repeats the phrase, and adds a different item to bring. For example, “I’m going on a camping trip, and I’m going to bring a tent, a torch, and a blanket.” As each new item is added, the phrase gets longer and becomes more difficult for players to remember. The aim of the game is to be able to recall all the items brought by players in the correct sequence. If one of the players skips an item on the list or says the items in the wrong order, they're out. If a player is out you still have to name the items s/he said. The person remaining who remembers all the items correctly is the winner.
Game 2: Message Madness This game is best played with at least 5 people. What you have to do is to spread everyone out in a large circle. Everyone should be a few metres away from each other. Nominate someone to be the 'message creator'. The message creator creates the message that is going to be passed around the group. The message has to be more than 1 sentence. Here’s an example: “I'm going to the mall to buy a red shirt to match my blue denim jeans. I'm also going to the grocery store to buy green grapes, chocolate ice-cream, orange juice and potato chips for the party tomorrow with Bill and John. The message creator then tells the message to the first person in the circle, then the first person has to tell the same message to the second person in the circle and so on. When it reaches the last person in the circle, the last person has to tell the message creator the message that was passed on to him/her. If the message is correct than the group wins and gets one point. Try and see how many points the group can get in a row without making a mistake. Board Games With less distractions especially from media sources and the internet, camping is a good venue to play classic board games. Usually relying on strategy and basic common sense, we highly recommend these classic board games to provide lots of learning fun for children.
